FAQs — questions before you buy

How much lutein and zeaxanthin should I take daily?

Science shows that the dose that delivers beneficial levels of lutein and zeaxanthin depends on your age:

  • Adults (18+): 20mg lutein + 4mg zeaxanthin, totalling 24mg daily†
  • Kids (5–12): 10mg lutein + 2mg zeaxanthin, totalling 12mg daily†
Should I take lutein and zeaxanthin with meals?

Lutein and zeaxanthin are macular carotenoids that are fat-soluble, meaning they are better absorbed by the body when consumed with dietary fat. Is it safe to take lutein and zeaxanthin with other supplements?

Lutein can be taken as part of a supplement routine that includes other nutrients, such as vitamin D, omega-3s, B vitamins, magnesium and zinc.† Always follow product directions and talk to your healthcare provider about the supplements that are right for you, especially if you take medications or other dietary supplements.

How long does it take to see results from supplementation?

Multiple gold-standard studies with Lutemax® 2020 have demonstrated that taking beneficial levels of lutein and zeaxanthin increased macular pigment optical density (MPOD) significantly in as little as 6 weeks for children and 8 weeks for adults.†

Is it safe to take lutein and zeaxanthin long term?

Long-term supplementation with lutein and zeaxanthin has been extensively studied and shown to be safe, including with continuous supplementation for up to 10 years.† Lutemax ingredients are backed by extensive safety research and have been shown to be safe and well tolerated at clinically studied levels of use.† As with any supplement, let your healthcare provider know what you are taking, particularly if you plan to use supplements long term.
